Ani Mallover is an elusive storyteller shrouded in myth, mystery and magic… Very little is known about her, except that she is always seen wearing a jaunty top hat and travels mainly under the twinkling gaze of starlight, with her adorable butterfly companion, Fifi, fluttering by her side.

The most accurate information to date is it that this mysterious young lady lives in a small cottage just outside the town of Bedazzlington, which is said to be situated in a charming, mountainous country known only as the Republic of Whimzica. It is also rumoured that her cottage is made entirely out of a particularly hardy kind of caramel fudge, but it must be emphasised that this is pure speculation.

What appears certain about Ani is that she has a special bond with creatures of all shapes and sizes. Sources tell us that wherever she appears, a colourful flock of animal life can be seen trailing after her in a joyful chorus of bleats, yowls, hisses and roars. It has led to the conclusion that she is a little like Noah, only more female, a hundred years his junior and without any obvious intention of building a large, wooden ship. 

Ani first came to our attention when she somehow magically transported a book from her alleged Bedazzlington home to more well-known towns and cities. The book is entitled Miranda The Polkadot Panda, and tells of an lovable little bear’s adventure as she comes to terms with her uniquely spotty fur.

To this day, Ani refuses to confirm or deny whether her drawings were based on real-life observations of a rare Polkadot Panda, but a panel of very intelligent experts we consulted agree that this is the most likely answer.

There are reports that Ani is working on a number of new books, each about animals that are in a spot of bother thanks to our silly human tendencies to be selfish about the way we live on our beautiful blue-green planet. It is not certain how the stories about these animals reach her all the way in Bedazzlington, but an unconfirmed suspicion exists that her butterfly friend Fifi has something to do with it…

As more information about this most unusual of authors comes to light, we will keep you updated. The Republic of Whimzica, wherever it may be, certainly has access to that most marvellous invention – the Internet. We know this because Ani is an avid fan of Facebook and frequently sends intriguing messages via Twitter and the odd video to Youtube. She seems to enjoy tantalising us further as to her true identity and geographical whereabouts!
